TEAM PROFILE

Abacus has an experienced team that possesses hands-on expertise in operating and investing in emerging growth companies. In particular, the Abacus team is comprised of a number of financial experts with extensive experience in the global capital markets and Asian investments.

 

Hogi Hyun Founder/Director

Hogi is responsible for overseeing all investment activities. He was formerly a Managing Director at Bankers Trust Company in Singapore where he established and managed its corporate finance, risk management and investment management businesses for Southeast Asia. While in Singapore, Hogi conceived and ran the Bankers Trust Regional Currency Funds and Global Guaranteed Funds. Prior to his move to Singapore, he was based in Bankers Trust Company's Hong Kong office where he established its Capital Markets Division for Southeast Asia. Hogi joined Bankers Trust, New York in 1987 where he began his career in the sales and trading of capital markets products. In 1989, he moved to London to develop Banker's Trust's equity derivatives business. Hogi is a member of the Investment Panel of The Enterprise Challenge, a S$20 million venture fund backed by the Singapore Prime Minister's Office, and a member of the Board of Directors of the Singapore Civil Service College.

Hogi graduated Magna cum laude from Yale University, USA in 1985 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in East Asian Studies.

He studied at the Beijing Foreign Languages Institute and Fudan University in Shanghai, and holds the Grand DiplĂ´me from La Varenne Ecole de Cuisine in Paris.

 

Casey Kwan Kai Chong Director

Casey is responsible for managing investments in Asian fixed income and distressed assets. Casey was a former a Director at CIBC-CEF responsible for marketing interest rate, foreign exchange and equity risk management instruments to corporate and financial institutions in Southeast Asia. Prior to joining CIBC-CEF, Casey was a Vice President at Bankers Trust Company, where he worked in various areas including equity research, corporate finance, risk management and investment management. Casey started his career in 1989 as an equity analyst at Morgan Grenfell where he specialized in researching Singapore property and hotel companies and participated in the development of a stock index performance measure.

Casey received his Bachelor of Science degree in Estate Management from the National University of Singapore in 1989.
